Social Work Associate Job at University of California San Francisco
1. Under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor of the Citywide Richardson Team, the Social Work Associate (SWA) works on-site in the Permanent Supportive Housing building, Richardson Apartments, with formerly homeless individuals with mentally illness, chronic physical health issues, and/or substance abusing clients to prevent homelessness and link to appropriate outpatient services. The SWA will carry a caseload of residents from Richardson Apts and provide individual treatment including; case management services, psychotherapy, crisis intervention and 5150 assessments, substance abuse treatment, willingness to learn DSM V mental health diagnostic criteria, and psycho education, group treatment, community events; intake, assessment, service planning and consultation. The SWA will coordinate closely with property management staff from HomeRise and Richardson Apts Citywide Team members to develop successful treatment strategies; advocacy and coordination with other agencies, families and clients; track client contacts in Avatar Billing System, assessments, referrals and linkage; coordinate closely with hospitals and clinic medical providers and other community partners. Working with diverse and multicultural team and community, the incumbent will participate and contribute to culturally focused clinical interventions and will practice a commitment to cultural humility and anti-racism. Candidate demonstrates a commitment to anti-racism, social justice and the ability to engage and respect a diverse community of clients and peers. The SWA tracks client contacts, treatment plans, assessments, evictions and makes appropriate referrals. The SWA maintains client records according to California, City and County requirements; and participate in an interdisciplinary treatment team. Candidate attends weekly staff meetings and participate in all required training sessions. Plus, other duties as assigned.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
Citywide Case Management Programs is a Division of the UCSF/ZSFG Department of Psychiatry, located at 982 Mission St. Its mission is to provide behavioral health intensive case management services to adults who suffer from serious mental illness, co-occurring substance abuse disorder and chronic medical conditions, experience significant systemic determinant of health, including justice-involvement or other forms of institutionalization, poverty and housing instability.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in social work from a program approved by the Council on Social Work Education, or a bachelor's degree in a related field, and one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- One year working with severely mentally ill adults, the homeless and dual diagnosed populations
- The ability to do outreach, including to SRO hotels, and inpatient hospitals.
- One year Case Management experience
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others. Ability to work in a high stress, high volume area and work well under pressure and with deadlines. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately, and be detailed oriented. Able to efficiently prepare written summaries of activities, set priorities and complete reports within required timeframes. Knowledge of medical and/or psychiatric terminology

Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work within multidisciplinary team to support clients
- Spanish language fluency adequate to provide therapy and clinical services to clients in this language
- Experience with Avatar Billing System
- Prior related experience in the homelessness response system of SF
- Demonstrated understanding of Harm Reduction, The Recovery Model and Housing First Model
