Social Worker Job at For Kids Only Afterschool
FKO is seeking a Social Worker to manage the organization’s implementation of positive behavioral supports and interventions. The Social Worker will have expertise in working with families and youth at risk and have an understanding of child behavior with the knowledge of setting up supports and interventions for student success in an out of school time environment.
The Social Worker will be dedicated to advance the safety, health and productivity of children by supporting families and utilizing community partners.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assesses the social emotional needs of children and makes referrals for services, supports, resources and referrals for children and families;
- Provides on-site support to program staff around positive behavior guidance through training, modeling and coaching;
- Facilitates meetings with parents, families, social workers and wrap-around team members;
- Facilitates staff support meetings and professional development, as needed;
- Attends meetings with organization’s partners such as school districts, local mental health agencies, etc.;
- Connects with community organizations to gather resources and build partnerships;
- Assists with recruitment, placement, and supervision of Social Worker Interns;
- Travels between sites as needed; and
- Performs all other duties that the Executive Director deems necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified Candidates will possess an upbeat, mission focused, team-oriented attitude; possess the desire to work alongside colleagues, FKO administration and staff; and be reliable and accountable for his/her work. The ideal candidate will have:
- compassion for supporting children and families;
- ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- ability to promote strategies to widen the circle of supports around families and communities;
- strong case management, communication and organizational skills;
- knowledge of school age children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development;
- demonstrated professional skills in the areas of staff development; program goal setting; and establishing procedures for evaluating the progress of individual children and staff.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Masters Degree in Social Work plus a minimum of two years experience working with school age children
- LCSW or LCSW-eligible; must obtain within 3 months of hire
- Substitutions: a Bachelors degree in Social Work plus a minimum of five years experience post-grad
- LSW or LSW-eligible; must obtain within 3 months of hire
