Sound Engineer
Hours: Part-time (approximately 8-15 hours/week) increasing to full-time during holidays and special events).
Salary: Based on experience
Responsible to: Executive Producer of Services & Worship Pastor
Qualifications & Skills Required: Previous experience with FOH audio engineering the live environment required. Additional experience in video, lighting, production, post-production, stage design, training others, creative video production and editing preferred, but not required. Willingness to work in a team environment and strive for excellence. Ability to think quickly and troubleshoot issues in high-stress situations. Preferred expertise in Apple computers, Pro-Presenter 7, Dante Networking, Audio Recording and Editing Software (preferably Pro-Tools or Cubase Pro 12).
Tasks: Pre-service/Rehearsals
1. Set up stage for musicians with correct inputs.
2. Perform proper line check.
3. Perform proper sound check, includes gain settings, monitor mixes, proper volume settings, and the eq/mixing process.
4. Check with worship leader and producer for schedule and any schedule changes.
During Service
1. Responsible for adjusting sound levels during service as needed.
2. Responsible for following producer, worship leader’s direction and musicians’ direction. For example, boosting monitor levels.
3. Responsible for recording the service.
4. Responsible for following stage and schedule cues.
5. Responsible for providing a distraction-free service as it relates to audio and lighting production.
Post-service
1. Deliver service recording to producer.
2. Review service with worship team and producer to identify opportunities for improvement.
3. Note any broken/faulty equipment and take it “out of service” if possible.
4. Clear stage of equipment as needed.
Time Required: Weekly band rehearsal (usually Thursday evenings from 6-8:30), plus time required for stage and lighting set-up. Sunday mornings from approximately 7:30-11:30 for sound checks, final run through and church service. Additional time required for special events, stage design and holidays.
