Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs.
- Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner.
- Resolve customer problems and concerns personally.
- Managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality.
- Provide support to junior kitchen employees with varios tasks includding line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating.
- Ensuring kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements.
- Taking charge of kitchen opening, closing and other side duties as directed by the Executive Chef.
- Recruit and train new kitchen employees to meet restaurant and kitchen standards.
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Manage the kitchen team in the Executive Chef's absence.
Requirements and skills:
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry’s best practices
- Are comfortable working in fast-paced environments
- Kitchen savvy: Attention to detail, you follow all steps and techniques to ensure consistency
- Tidy and clean; maintaining a sanitary, food-safe workstation is important to you.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 50 lbs and continuosly bend, reach and twist.
- Team-work oriented with outstanding leadership abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
