Job Title: Sous Chef
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, ensuring consistency and adherence to our restaurant's standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and stock your assigned station with the necessary ingredients, equipment, and supplies, ensuring everything is properly prepared for efficient service.
- Prepare menu items according to standardized recipes, maintaining consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Cook dishes using a variety of techniques, including frying, ensuring proper cooking temperatures and times are followed.
- Coordinate with other line cooks and kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate preparation of orders, adapting to any special requests or dietary needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to sanitation and food safety standards at all times.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting any shortages to the kitchen manager.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of cooking stations, ensuring equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored properly.
- Comply with all food safety regulations, local health department guidelines, and restaurant policies.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain an efficient and professional kitchen environment.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by management, which may include assisting with food preparation, dishwashing, or general cleaning duties.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen preferred.
- Proven experience as a line cook in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Knowledge of food safety guidelines and proper food handling techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized recipes.
- Excellent cooking skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques and equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
