Special Education Program Manager - 2022/2023 School Year - Phoenix Early Learning Center and Elementary Campus

Are you an experienced SPED Teacher looking for an opportunity to gain some leadership experience? This is the perfect position for you! Our SPED Managers typically manage and support 3-6 classroom teachers. We have a position available at our Main Campus Campus in Phoenix (serving Grades K-2) and Phoenix Elementary Campus (Grades 3-5).

Arizona’s first and only autism-focused charter school is expanding and seeking a highly-skilled Special Education Teacher to serve as a Program Manager, overseeing the instruction in classrooms and serving as case manager for students in those classrooms.

Under the supervision and direction of the Campus Director and Special Education Director; the Special Education Program Manager will support and train Instructional Leads and classroom Behavior Specialists in the implementation of Arizona Autism Charter School’s (AZACS) adopted curriculum, IEP accommodations and modifications within the AZACS structured classroom model.

Candidates must be experienced in the correct design, implementation and oversight of research based educational strategies for students with disabilities, ABA teaching strategies, and have significant experience conducting these activities within school settings. The candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability to train, coach and motivate instructional staff in the classroom. The SPED Program Manager will work hand-in-hand with a school leadership to promote a positive school culture that focuses on implementing a best practices education model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum.

Duties:

• IEP Service coordinator of approximately 35-50 students
• Manage educational programming in grade level cohort classrooms consisting of 4 to 8 classrooms
• Coach and mentor 4-8 instructional leads in a structured classroom
• Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study.
• Oversight of AZACS adopted curriculum, instruction and assessment
• Oversight of staff creating safe learning environment
• Oversight of accommodations and modification to the adopted curriculum
• Curriculum development
• Professional development for instructional leads with the planning and implementation of all adopted curriculum
• Weekly observation and in-the-moment coaching with instructional leads and classroom behavior specialist
• Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
• Parent communication
• Training and oversight of structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
• Staff communication/feedback
• Collaboration with ABA Managers for behavior and/or data analysis
• Maintain substitute plans in case of Instructional Lead absence
• Maintain alternative staffing plans in case of absence where coverage is not available
• Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
• Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
• Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
• 3 - 5 years teaching special education
  
• 1 - 2 years of managerial experience

• Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA) preferred
• Experience in structured teaching, center-based model preferred

Required:

• Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certification
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Coaches, monitors, and mentors instructional leads working with students with disabilities.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions:

Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
