Speech Language Pathologist - Full-Time or Part-Time! Job at St. Francis Children's Center

Reports To: Therapy Supervisor – Birth-to-Three
Overview: The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for daily implementation of individual therapy both at the center and throughout the community, which meet the needs of both the child and their family. These services should be provided in a manner which is sensitive to the cultural, physical, psychological and social developmental needs of the children and is in compliance with Birth to Three, Medicaid, DPI and medical guidelines.
Essential Functions

  • Participates in the development, review and evaluation of the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP), and ensures goals are functional and measurable, ensuring adherence to PCATT principles
  • Reviews doctor’s orders and insurance authorization before completing evaluations
  • Selects proper assessment tools and evaluates children for speech/language and oral motor/feeding difficulties
  • Performs the initial therapy evaluation within established guidelines, and completes plan of care regarding child’s progress every 90 days, or as specified by insurance company
  • Interprets evaluation results to the family, physician and birth-to-three staff, treating all involved with respect and cultural humility
  • Administers treatment techniques in the areas of oral motor/feeding therapy, speech/language development and/or disorders, and communication
  • When appropriate, serves as primary provider, incorporating goals and objectives from all developmental areas into treatment plan and providing ongoing treatment according to the child’s needs
  • Consults with physicians and community professionals as required to meet the child’s emotional and developmental needs
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of adapted/specialized equipment
  • Educates, trains, supports and provides families and caregivers with functional activities, proper positioning and diet guidelines oriented to the goals and objectives that have been established for the child, modifying them as appropriate to conform to the context of their daily routines and traditions
  • Maintains and submits all paperwork, billing, case notes and reports in a timely manner
  • Facilitates the development of transitional/discharge plans and attends all conferences and meetings associated with transitions
  • Models positive approaches to help children behave constructively including redirection, planning ahead, clear and consistent rules, logical or natural consequences, and problem-solving techniques
  • Provides personal care to children as necessary
  • Actively participates in all required meetings and works cooperatively with all team members
  • Works with Therapy Manager and Program Manager to ensure all files are audit compliant
  • Serves as a positive ambassador for St. Francis Children’s Center and for Milwaukee County
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Education/License/Certifications*

  • Bachelorr’s degree from an accredited college or university in Speech Language Pathology
  • State of Wisconsin Speech/Language Pathologist license
  • ASHA Certification
  • Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and may not have more than three current minor driving violations and/or one current at-fault accident on your record. Auto insurance must include $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury and $100,000 property damage

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with the Birth-to-Three program strongly preferred
  • Ability to function effectively independently and with a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of confidentiality and ethics
  • Computer literacy required including Office 365 and the ability to learn new programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands
  • Must possess and practice a customer service focused management philosophy

Pay: $26.24 - $40.00 per hour
