SUMMARY:

The Spray Dry Operator will be tasked to complete flavor batches following a batch card and the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures, including source, weighing, mixing and filling materials. The Spray Dry Operator will also be responsible for set-up, tear-down, packaging and other related tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Review batch ticket and carefully source and double check all raw material descriptions and item numbers that are called for on the Batch Report

2. Work in an organized manner following Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices and the Company’s Safety Procedures

3. Prepare mixing equipment and work area(s) as needed to complete the batch

4. Calculate and verify quantities needed for the batch

5. Weigh out, pour off and add in raw materials per batch card accurately and neatly.

6. Accurately notate all required information including but not limited to quantities, lot numbers and mixing information.

7. Follow all safety and mixing instructions

8. Follow GMPs and best practices for food safety.

9. Follow food safety plan (HARPC) related procedures and perform assigned preventative control checks.

10. Follow food quality plan related procedures and perform assigned critical quality checks.

11. Shall notify supervisors of any issues encountered during the process from sourcing product to clean-up and sanitation.

12. Discharge batches through filter as indicated in the batch report.

13. Follow packaging instructions, bulk and wholesale packaging of batches

14. Operate material handling equipment

15. Clean-up of work areas, CIP’s and assist with cleaning and sanitation of equipment, utensils and other processing equipment including janitorial duties as may be required.

16. Process, stock and rotate incoming shipments for the Production Department, including but not limited to corrosive, inhalation hazard and Proposition 65 chemicals.

17. Follow respiratory health and safety procedures for flavor manufacturing

18. Working knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out procedures

19. Perform other related tasks as directed by Production Manager.

COMPETENCIES

1. Above average math skills and communication skills

2. Capable of following written instructions, able to effectively work with computers and computerized equipment with minimal supervision.

3. Comfortably able to operate spray dry equipment and follow standard operating procedures and safe work practices.

4. No food allergies

5. Able effectively communicate, read and write in English.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional manufacturing and warehouse environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to remain long periods of time standing. Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50lbs, use stairs and ladders. Some lifting is required to carry product samples and relevant documentation. Comfortable working on elevated platforms and lift devices from to 3’-15’.

Physically capable of working under elevated temperature condition.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Previous experience preferred in manufacturing and batching operations, following standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices

2. Forklift, material handling equipment certification preferred
