POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Data, Analytics and Reporting, the SQL Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining SQL queries and database scripts to support the data management, reporting, and analyses of the Department of Finance. This position is vital in helping hospital leadership make decisions off accurate and timely data.

This SQL Developer position is Junior to Mid-Level and will help the Data, Analytics and Reporting team maintain data loads to all Finance applications and its SQL Server database. The successful candidate will work closely with report developers to ensure that reports are accurate, efficient, and optimized for performance. In addition, the position will provide support to the Finance department in developing SQL script to meet ad hoc data requests.

The ideal candidate will have experience using SQL and other database management tools on Epic data in a hospital/healthcare setting, and be able to work well in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize complex SQL queries and database scripts to support BMC Finance reporting, analyses and applications
  • Work closely with Finance Business Intelligence (BI) Report Developer to ensure that reports are accurate, efficient, and optimized for performance
  • Create database tables, structures and schemas, and dictionaries
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to SQL queries, database scripts, and data models
  • Develop and maintain program views, functions and stored procedures for Data Analysts
  • Work with decision makers to understand business requirements and develop solutions that meet those requirements
  • Perform data analysis and modeling to support financial reporting and analysis
  • Provide technical support to end-users for SQL queries and database scripts
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes to integrate data from various sources
  • Provide authorization and memory management for the server and database

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • 3+ years of experience in SQL development, database administration, and/or BI development at a Hospital or Healthcare institution
  • Familiarity with Healthcare and Electronic Health Records (Epic) data
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and SQL programming
  • Experience with database administration and management tools
  • Experience with ETL processes
  • Epic Certification (Caboodle, Clarity, Revenue Data Models) preferred
  • Familiarity with reporting and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of report generation and maintenance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills; advanced MS Excel skills required
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
