Senior Accountant - Revenue & Receivables

Who We Are Looking For

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized school or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent and commensurate professional experience
  • At least three years’ experience working in a staff accountant or similar role
  • A Washington State Driver’s license, current vehicle insurance and able to be covered on Alpha Supported Living Services’ automobile insurance plan based upon driving record
  • Background inquiry clearance from an authorized state agency

What Your Day Looks Like

  • Provide accurate and timely revenue and receivables accounting and management:
    • Reviews, compares and reconciles state and county agency services contracted with actual services performed
    • Utilizes web-based ProviderOne Medicaid Management Information System to review, prepare and post client service billings
    • Prepare and post individual and batch journal entries in Financial Edge accounting system and prepare accurate revenue and receivable reports.
    • Assist with internal and external audits to minimize and mitigate federal, state or local compliance violations or audit findings
    • Works within and across teams to identify and implement policy, procedure, and practice improvements
    • Reviews and reconciles company billing transactions with client systems and information reports
    • Assist Financial Operations Manager to invoice clients for monthly rents and maintain accurate accounting of client receivables. Assist clients and guardians with invoice inquiries, problems or issues.
    • Organize client checks, make remote bank account deposits, and record and reconcile revenue, receivables and banking module transactions in accounting system.
    • Review and report agency receivables aging and take action as needed.
  • Provide assistance to the Controller and Director of Finance with monthly, quarterly and yearly accounting closings
    • Provide accurate revenue recordation and recognition
    • Research and resolve accounting problems and post adjusting or reclassifying journal entries
    • Assist with financial statement or other report preparations
  • Assist with business Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
    • Help with financial forecasting and annual budget preparations
    • Conduct analysis and prepare and present financial information and reports
    • Work with internal and external customers to provide timely and accurate financial accounting of billable hours and costs
    • Export and import data sets and conduct data analytics or business intelligence using various accounting and finance tools
  • Track submissions of residential allowance request forms and properly account for all funds received.
    • Work with Financial Services Coordinators to properly record payment receipts to client ledgers or accounting system.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with clients, their families, guardians, DDA Resource Management and other service providers
    • Communicate frequently with appropriate personnel as related to client finance and benefit issues or concerns
    • Regularly meet with supervisors to review client finances and other agency matters
  • Participate in staff meetings; maintain certifications and licenses; and maintain personal vehicle and insurance as a condition of employment:
    • Attend First Aid/CPR, blood borne pathogens, & mandated reporter training
    • Maintain Washington State Driver’s license, automobile registration, & insurance
    • Provide driver’s abstract every 3 years or upon request from agency
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned to assist with the payables, payroll or other finance and accounting functions of the firm.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Aptitudes

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of professional accounting principles, practices, and methods in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Solid mathematical and analytical skills with critical thinking capabilities for researching and resolving accounting and information system problems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively and diplomatically work with team members, management, and state agency customers.
  • Comfortable with web and Windows-based accounting and information systems, large data sets, and information exchanges with ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and other 365 application skills with ability to maximize time and task management and manage multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail with ability to work independently or collaboratively on projects in a team environment with normal work interruptions and shifting priorities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position generally works in a contemporary office setting with exposure to moderate noise volumes. This position will work with general office equipment (computers, fax machines, telephones) as well as personal computer equipment (desktops, monitors and related peripheral equipment.) There is minimal exposure to dust, copier or printer toner, general household chemicals (dish soap, hand soap, etc.) within the office. This position requires an ability to operate a personal computer, verbally interact with clients and read and understand documents.

This position will operate an automobile to perform the essential functions of this position, therefore the use of vision and hearing are required for safety. Work sites may have several flights of stairs and require the ability to traverse. Adaptive equipment may be used as long as physical safety is ensured at all times. Employees may be exposed to inclement weather when traveling between work sites.

Starting Wage: $31.50

Wage Scale: $31.50 – $37.10
