PEMEX Deer Park is a highly complex refinery located 18 miles east of Houston in Deer Park, TX, and is a part of the PEMEX group which is a fully integrated oil company in the Americas, working across the entire value chain: exploration, production, industrial processing/refining, logistics and marketing. PEMEX Deer Park provides a diverse and inclusive work environment that employs approximately 1000 employees with another 1200 contractors on site. The refinery’s rated capacity is 340,000 barrels per day and has the feed flexibility to process multiple grades of crudes to produce the high-quality transportation fuels the world needs. Scope:
  • 1000 employees, semi-monthly and bi-weekly pay schedules
  • $20 mln in payroll processed per month
Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for all finance/accounting of Pay and Benefits for ~930-1000 employees, staff and hourly
  • Manage vacation, bonus, and hourly accruals
  • Manage payment requests as it relates to Pay/Benefits
  • Ensure accurate reporting and timely funding of Qualified/Non-Qualified 401K plans, maintaining compliance with ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security ACT)
  • Conduct reconciliations of 401K employee and employer contributions after payroll cycle ends
  • Accountable for Pay/Benefits balance sheet reconciliations ensuring variances are fully understood as support to the business
  • Maintain a strong business control framework as it relates to Pay/Benefits
  • Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders with the ability to implement changes/new processes for Pay/Benefits
  • Part of the Deer Park finance pool to allow opportunities to support projects, allocated based on development needs and workload.
  • Ensure that Finance risks are integrated into the full value and risk discussion supporting the business decision making for the specific opportunity involved

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Immediate focus on stabilizing back-office accounting activities that moved to the site post acquisition of the Refinery by Pemex
  • Ensure that Finance risks are integrated into the full value and risk discussion supporting the business decision making for the specific opportunity involved
  • Support the implementation of a robust Business Control Framework and related performance management framework for the specific opportunity involved
  • Work on various opportunities across multiple activities/assets and are not dedicated to a specific activity or asset. The work they perform will change over time and be prioritized based on value and risk, and professional development.
  • Will work with the business or functional lines as the voice of Finance on specific projects/transactions
  • Intervene where other parts of Finance are not delivering to support business outcomes, to ensure the problem is solved leaving ownership where it should sit
Qualifications:
  • BBA Finance or Accounting
  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Microsoft Suite, SAP, Power BI preferred
  • Able to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value and risk
  • Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional financial rigor is applied to commercial decision-making process and risk management bringing analytics and insights to the table
  • Ability to apply a risk-based, practical approach to problem solving, coupled with the ability to rationalize decisions with significant uncertainty and incomplete info
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to relay financial information to people with different financial backgrounds
  • Ability to understand end- users needs and translate into successful delivery
  • Continuous improvement mindset and ability to lead through change
