Job Summary:
Conducts welding training for certification and delivers recertification specialty training programs for contracted customer. Provides input to and assists with development of new specialty training programs. Facilitates, tracks and maintains shop tools and equipment to support specialty training.
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Instruct specialty training programs
- Deliver hands-on specialty training programs. Works with specialty training team to identify and maintain training schedules and calendars. Assists with set up, delivery, and teardown of training. Assists in maintenance of equipment, tools, and other training aids.
- Maintains training schedule calendar. Is available to answer training questions related to class schedules, delivery, and travel arrangements from students.
- Responsible for timely, accurate, reports to contracting organization and/or third-party administrators following training. Ensures that all necessary supporting documentation and photographs are completed in accordance with contract obligations. Responsible for registrations, sending event dates, validating prerequisites, taking photos of technicians and their welded coupons and weld assessment piece, placing photos in FileMaker, creating Excel Files on I-CAR server, exporting images and comments from FileMaker into Excel files for final review to send to Global.
- As required, designs cost-effective props and practice pieces in an effort to deliver highly interactive training activities. Collaborates with Specialty Training Manager and Collision Repair Trainers to identify and work with vendors to secure cost-effective props. Assists in identification and guidance to contacting organization for procurement of specialty tools and equipment. Assists in securing consigned tools and equipment, as necessary.
- Works with Specialty Training team to maintain training schedules and results reporting
- Supports development of specialty training programs
- Suggests process and/or training delivery improvements to management and Specialty Training Team. May implement improvements and cross-train team members.
- Maintains all required OEM and/or other industry recognized certifications
- Encourage cooperative engagement of all departments to keep the entire Tech Center a state-of-the-art facility inside and out
- Responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of the Specialty Training Department with a focus on the shop areas and remote facility storage for organization, efficiency, and cleanliness
- Learn the operation of Specialty Training equipment and maintain and repair as needed
- Support the design and construction of Instructor and classroom props for Specialty Training
- Repairability Technical Support – Assists, as available, in support and expansion of Partial Replacement, and other I-CAR Matrices. Assists in coordination, research, documentation, review, and distribution of technical information matrices.

Experience and Education:
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent work experience in building and equipment maintenance, communications, technical writing, collision repair, or technical education.
- Five plus years prior work experience in the collision industry or related position. 2-3 years of experience required as technical writer, or collision repair instructor, or related field preferred.

- Work is performed in an office and workshop environment. Computer operation is approximately 10%. Minimal travel is required. When traveling, working environment may be hotel meeting room, conference center, auditorium, etc.

- The incumbent is required to regularly stand, walk, sit, handle and finger, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, and crawl, squat or kneel and bend. The incumbent may be required to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds. The incumbent is required to be able to hear and smell. The incumbent is required to see, with near, color, peripheral and depth perception vision.
- Proper use and maintenance of equipment, hand and power tools, and computer hardware is required.
