Purpose This position is established for the purpose of formally integrating the Purchasing function (and associated expertise) into the manufacturing sourcing process. The expected result or benefit will be a more effective process in terms of cost management and schedule integrity. One of the strategic elements of Purchasing's pursuit of World Class designation is the introduction of suppliers into the development process to exploit the expertise of the supplier(s) and maximize cost effective manufacturability. The Senior Buyer position provides support to Engineering, Operations, and Facilities.
Required Skills
Coordinate closely with members of the Operations team to provide acquisition support necessary to purchase materials in the most cost-effective approach possible
Develop relationships with suppliers in support of Support Supply Chain Program initiatives (i.e Cash Flow Management, Terms Management etc.)
Conduct the appropriate level of price / cost analysis in order to obtain the most favorable purchase and establish of best value for purchase
Drive for on-time delivery in support of operational requirements.
Work with warehouse and operations to support and maintain stock levels.
Perform purchase order administration and manage timely product
Participate in meetings / presentations concerning your functional area
Support Supply Chain Program initiatives (i.e Cash Flow Management, Terms Management etc.)
Work closely with all related departments to assure the coordination of Purchasing related tasks
Assuring purchasing related activities are identified, schedule, and are completed
Minimum Requirements
Education: 4-year college degree with business / technical background desired
Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years progressively responsible purchasing (purchasing related) experience in a manufacturing environment with engineering interface.
Specific Knowledge: Senior knowledge level of purchasing principles, strong negotiation skills, computer techniques, and manufacturing process. Supply Chain methodology and project/program management experience, basic understanding of engineering terminology. Mechanical parts and chemical purchasing experience.
Business Understanding: A well-developed understanding of business principles with effective communicative skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
