JOB SUMMARY

The SR Data Analyst 3 provides oversight for the design and creation of relational databases. Maintains and enhances the integrity, security and performance of the database operating environment. Administers and controls database resources. Provides performance and tuning of the database. Provides advanced technical help. Serves as key resource for special projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

• Plans, researches, designs, tests, and implements upgrades and enhancements to databases.
• Is accountable for security and data integrity.
• Is accountable for daily database back-up and recovery, evaluates the validity and efficiency of database back-ups. Programs and tests back-up scripts, researches and tests recovery methodology and documents back-up methods.
• Provides an advanced level of technical help to users and Information Services (IS) Staff. Provides an advanced level of technical consulting to staff members.
• Studies and researches features of new versions of databases and tools to prepare for future growth.
• Responds to customer questions and problems in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Establishes technical standards and guidelines for the effective use of databases. Trains End Users on the basic structure of database and writes query (ies) and advanced topics as necessary.
• Trains and assists in the development of personnel.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

• Knowledge of Data Warehousing, ODS, or other reporting environment in a work or educational environment.
• Knowledge of the healthcare, supply chain, or finance domains in a work or educational environment.
• Ability to write SQL queries against relational databases of a simple complexity in a work or educational environment.
• Must possess excellent documentation and communication skills.
• The ability to understand, model, and interpret data.
• Must possess problem-solving skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Must possess good social skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
