Sr Director, Compensation and Total Rewards Job at The Mom Project
The Sr DIrector, Compensation and Total Rewards will develop, design, and execute on our Total Rewards Program. You will be responsible for maintaining and evolving the compensation and benefits programs, ensuring that we have world-class offerings to best support current and future employees. This means driving all things compensation and benefits, including base pay, variable, bonus plans, equity-based programs, and an evolving competitive benefits program.
This is a critical role for our rapidly growing organization to drive strategic compensation decisions and deliver creative, competitive, and analytically driven compensation programs, grounded in data. You will be a subject matter expert to ensure fair and equitable pay and create sustainable and competitive incentive compensation. You'll use your analytical skills and strategic mindset, frequently working with senior management and leadership, to execute on our overall people strategy. As the Total Rewards leader, you will have the opportunity to grow this function in parallel with the growth of the company.
This will require you to think strategically about complex compensation and benefits topics that need savvy approaches and a "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude to get the work done. This means tight coordination and collaboration with our internal teams as we evolve our total rewards initiatives.

- Own foundational aspects of our Total Rewards program, including compensation review cycles, open enrollment and benefit benchmarking and market analyses
- Develop and align the total rewards strategy to the goals of the organization and ensure it is positioned to attract, motivate, and retain employees. Work with executive leadership to ensure complete compensation strategy alignment
- Develop strong relationships with key members of the Talent, Finance, Product, and Sales teams to align our strategies with business priorities
- Develop and administer, performance-driven compensation and benefits programs in alignment with the company’s strategy, talent practices and rewards landscape (e.g. base compensation, incentive programs, equity compensation etc.)
- Develop and assess compensation structures, salary ranges, job families/position levels, and conduct job evaluations and market pricing
- Collaborate and consult with the FP&A team, Talent team, leaders and hiring managers on compensation related matters such as new hire offers including executive level hires, promotions, international transfers, top talent retention, and compensation planning/reviews
- Coordinate and improve compensation processes across the organization (e.g., semi - annual compensation reviews, equity grant program)
- Manage and administer our compensation platform and build out system and tools to support our semi-annual compensation review process
- Continue to evolve our compensation philosophy and equity programs, including variable compensation while driving fairness and compliance in pay practices and policies
- Provide regular compensation analytics using internal and external tools, to ensure pay parity and market competitiveness
- Identify compensation related issues and propose solutions and recommendations
- Design and guide repeatable practices for job evaluations, market comparison data, pay decisions and governance
- Build upon our current benefit programs, inclusive of health, retirement, and ancillary benefits to support our employees as we grow
- Develop a competitive and rewarding benefits strategy (medical, dental, vision, etc.)
- Manage relationships and projects with key external partners, such as compensation consultants, benefits brokers, and third-party tools and platforms
- Regularly benchmark activities across all areas of Total Rewards (benefits, incentive programs, equity, base compensation, relocation services & packages, etc.) to elevate, evolve and continuously improve our competitiveness
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent
- Advanced certification (CCP, CEP, or CECP), preferred
- 5+ years of experience working in a high growth Technology company (preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in broad-based compensation, equity, executive, incentive plan strategy, design, and administration
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, growing environment
- Public company experience required
- Proven success in managing short- and long-term equity programs including experience with stock options, restricted shares, form filing and disclosures
- Experience in developing compensation programs, preferably for a software/technology company, to include executive compensation, sales compensation, pay-for-performance, corporate governance, short/long term incentive planning, and long-term equity pay programs
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills to effectively communicate compensation strategies at all levels, from administrative to the C-Suite
- Knowledge of leading practices and external trends in compensation and HR systems
- Knowledge of current practices in equity plan administration including understanding and managing plan provisions, understanding implications of plan changes and related costs, and understanding of current equity best practices
- Leadership skills balanced with a willingness to play a 'hands-on' role with key projects
- Adept in building relationship with leaders, global cross-functional teams, vendors, and partners
