Sr. Manager, Corporate Development Job at Kimberly-Clark

To further enhance global business growth, Kimberly-Clark has decided to bring in a Corporate Development Sr Manager reporting directly to the Senior Director Corporate Development. The Sr Manager will be a key member of the Global Business Development Team and will have a lead role in target identification, analyzing and executing on acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other corporate development activities on a global basis.

The Corporate Development Sr Manager will be involved in all phases of the transaction including originating ideas, due diligence coordination, valuation, structuring, negotiating, and closing the transaction. As appropriate, the successful candidate will be involved in post-deal integration as well. The successful candidate will need to develop, present, and make recommendations to corporate and business leadership teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner effectively with key business unit executives and corporate functional leaders on all phases of a transaction.
  • Understand Kimberly-Clark’s current businesses and their strategies to determine how new opportunities fit with current strengths and weaknesses.
  • Research companies and identify trends. Develop detailed business case analysis including competitive analysis on potential opportunities.
  • Coordinate and lead due diligence of targets by managing large cross-functional teams.
  • Run deal valuation models and analytics.
  • Partner with leadership to define global business development priorities and communicate and discuss these priorities with the relevant leaders to impact outcome.
  • Lead select deals, including provide thought leadership and process leadership for senior management in acquisition, divestiture, and partnership processes and transactions.
  • Maintaining relationships with third party advisors.

Key Competencies:

Functional Competence: The candidate will be skilled in leading and executing deals, as well as knowing when to walk away from deals. Should be well versed and up to date on business valuation methodologies and have a strong understanding of financial statement analysis. The candidate should have strong financial modelling skills with experience in developing and reviewing financial and valuation models for various transaction types. In addition, understanding of key underlying tax and accounting variables that drive and impact transactions would be needed. The ideal Candidate will also have transaction negotiating experience, including a familiarity with the various legal contracts that typically outline/govern transactions, joint ventures etc. When applicable, the Candidate will also be comfortable managing and working with investment bankers on transactions.

Strategic Orientation: The ideal candidate will be strategic, analytical, and intellectually aggressive. S/he will have a demonstrated track record of providing strategic recommendations on portfolio optimization that have resulted in the creation of sustainable quantifiable shareholder value. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to think structurally about a business and be able to articulate the financial implications of business development proposals clearly and succinctly. S/he will also have superior communication skills and be able to convincingly communicate and defend his/her views to senior management.

Relationship Development: The candidate will have the ability to inspire trust and confidence, as well as represent Kimberly-Clark in an ethical, positive, and inspiring manner. The ability to build strong personal relationships with a diverse set of potential partners and influencers is important. This includes the ability to help potential partners think through their situation and provide a trustworthy view of why partnering with Kimberly-Clark could be positive for their stakeholders as well as themselves personally.

Highly Collaborative & Influencing Abilities: The ideal candidate will actively engage colleagues to make joint decisions and will bring people together across boundaries to achieve results. S/he will take calculated risks to advance a collaborative relationship, foregoing personal objectives for the benefit of the group. Furthermore, the candidate will demonstrate a successful history of influencing and persuading senior management to pursue and/or reject prospective transactions.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required. An MBA or advanced degree would be preferred.
  • 7+ years of business experience is required.
  • 3+ years’ experience in transaction execution (Corporate Development, Investment banking, Private Equity or Consulting or similar).
  • The transaction experience will include hands-on experience in prospecting opportunities, deal structuring, managing due diligence, and negotiating transaction terms.
  • Strong financial background and will be able to demonstrate a strong balance between being highly strategic with a deep understanding of the financial implications of prospective deals.
  • Highly operational, able to dive into the details required to structure the best commercial arrangements.
  • Consumer Products or B2B experience is not required for this position but would be an advantage.
