POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
The Staff Accountant will report directly to the COO and will have oversite of the company’s inventory and cost of goods tracking and reconciliation. As a global business it is essential the staff accountant understands international business and global supply chain. The staff accountant will also be assisting the CEO as needed and responding to information requests by management. To be successful as staff accountant, you should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). An outstanding staff accountant should also have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. The Staff Accountant supports the company’s key initiatives and strategic vision. Total Gym Commercial LLC specializes in designing, developing, marketing, selling and distributing innovative patented fitness and medical equipment globally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must perform each essential function below at an exemplary level.
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books by the 25thof the following month.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Files sales tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Sets the example as an employee team member that enhances the company core values and develops their own goals and expectations to meet the needs of the company;
- Process and oversee all sales transactions by supervising the Account Associate to support the financial management of the company.
- Generate Monthly/ Quarterly Accounting reports and delivered to the leadership team (CEO, COO & CSMO) in a timely manner (on or before 28thof the following month. To include P&L (Monthly & YTD YOY Comparison), Balance Sheet as current as of the close of the month including reconciled cash accounts. Prepare AP and AR aging reports with actions annotated if necessary.
- Monthly/Quarterly Sales tax returns for all relevant B2C sales transactions in compliance with current sales tax guidelines. Ensure the Tax Closures for TGC and TGE (European Office) are following IRS and European Tax laws (working with our European partnership for VAT and Tax structure already set up).
- Attend Daily Cash Planning meetings with the CEO, COO, Account Associate followed up with a weekly account meeting as directed by CEO & COO.
- Manages and reports financial software (QBO) and Stock Inventory (SOS) is reconciled to ensure stock accuracy and audited against each transaction.
- Tracks and Audits inventory financing PO tracking and repayments as well as balance sheet accuracy.
- Attends trade shows, visits with clients and studies our industry as directed by the COO. Ensuring personal development is continual to keep up to date with current financial guidelines and regulations to ensure the company is always compliant with financial regulatory rules and regulations.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Experience:
The ideal candidate must have Quick Books financial software experience. SOS inventory module experience is an advantage. Must be able to demonstrate teamwork with good Coordination and Communication skills. Candidate will have 2 to 3 years of related experience in a multi tasked role, preferably in a dynamic growing environment. Comprehensive knowledge of customer service, logistics, inventory management, with exceptional communication skills is preferred.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance Business Management, with strong math, science, and analytical background required. Knowledge and Experience accepted outside of academic qualifications for the specific role on application only.
Skills:

- Analytical skills in addition to strong financial acumen (cost analysis).
- Knowledge of Financial software is required; with financial accounting knowledge / experience is preferred.
- Prior experience in a smaller company, fast-paced environment which is heavily integrated with other functional departments.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-tasking, prioritizing and easily adapting to changing situations.
- Professional and proficient verbal and written communication skills.
