The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding educator the position of PE/Health and Wellness Teacher at the STEAM Academy. The
STEAM/Gifted Program provides an environment of excellence where students are engaged in project based learning in order to develop a keen understanding of academic content and apply their knowledge. Students are empowered to take ownership for their learning and encouraged to question and innovate. In the STEAM program, teachers focus on six essential competencies: *Master core academic content *Think critically and solve complex problems *Work collaboratively *Communicate effectively *Learn how to learn *Develop academic mindsets. STEAM/Gifted students will develop cognitive ability,
intrapersonal and interpersonal skills for lifelong success in 21st century skills and civic life.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Facilitate learning of curriculum and life skills that contribute to the development of mature, capable and responsible individuals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Respect for the uniqueness of each individual learner.
- Ability to meet the individual needs of all students to allow for growth and
development.
- Ability to convey information to students through written and verbal communications.
- Ability to encourage student ownership of behavior.
- Strong ability to work as a team member in a STEAM project based setting producing critical thinkers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A valid Missouri professional teaching certificate in the PE/Health K-12.
- Gifted certification K-12 preferred or ability to obtain within two years.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in physical education.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans daily instructional activities for all students including the development of
lesson plans, materials and assessment tools which meet the individual needs of the students.
- Understands and implements acceleration and differentiation in response to varied learner needs.
- Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as facilitators of student learning.
- Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials and
technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings.
- Assesses student progress, both formatively and summatively, providing parents,
student and administrators with specific feedback regarding individual student
performance and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed.

- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administration regulations.
- Takes responsibility for teaching the district curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents.
- Keeps abreast of current developments through a professional growth plan.
- Participates in school and district activities. 10. Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly and safe classroom
environment that is conducive to student learning and building a sense of community. 11. Manage positive discipline in accordance with the Discipline Code of the District, administrative regulations, school board policies and legal requirements.
- Develops a repertoire of strategies to manage student behavior, individually and in groups, in a manner that encourages individual responsibility, self-control, self discipline and effective decision making.
13.Contributes to school effectiveness by collaborating with other professionals in a respectful, cooperative, and caring manner.
