Randstad Healthcare is hiring Sterile Processing Techs in Atlanta, GA with at least 6 months of experience. This will be a flexible contract of at least 13 weeks with the possibility of extension and/or direct hire. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a very busy hospital setting. There is the opportunity for a Lead SPT position based on experience.

You are a meticulous sterile processing technician capable of sterilization and cleaning of medical equipment, instruments, and supplies. Your responsibilities will include retrieving contaminated supplies, delivering sterile supplies, maintaining inventory, and preparing sterile instrument trays for surgeries, examinations, and procedures. You should have a good working knowledge of a variety of sterilization techniques and be able to work with fragile equipment.

• Payrate: $28-$34+/hr, paid weekly

• Schedule: Weekdays, 1 weekend per month minimum rotation

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collecting used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.
• Manually cleaning supplies of contaminants, removing waste matter, and operating and maintaining decontamination equipment.
• Preparing and packing decontaminated supplies for sterilization.
• Monitoring and operating sterilization equipment.
• Examining supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.
• Testing and reporting any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.
• Sterilizing, preparing, wrapping, and organizing equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
• Preparing and delivering all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts.
• Maintaining records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
• Controlling the inventory, reordering supplies, and checking expiration dates.

SKILLS

• Knowledge of sterilization supplies, equipment and instruments.
• Knowledge of organizing, containing, and transporting items of varying compounds, textures or quantities.
• Knowledge of transporting and disposing of hazardous materials and sharp objects according to hospital procedures.
• Knowledge of sterilization procedures of various equipment and instruments.
• Knowledge of wrapping and repackaging sterilized instruments.
• Skill in using sterilization equipment and instruments.
• Skill in arranging instruments on surgical trays.
• Skill in following written instructions and performing multiple tasks.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.
• Basic computer skills

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 6 months experience as a Hopsital Sterile Processing Technician
• CRCST certification from IAHCSMM or CSPDT certification from CBSPD (must be obtained within first 12 months from hire)
• Valid BLS certification (by start date)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Covid Vaccination (by start date)
