The Gloucester Marine Terminal is operated by Gloucester Terminals LLC and offers stevedoring and break bulk services. The terminal, located in the Port of Philadelphia has direct access to highways as well as three rail lines that transit across the United States and Canada, providing unrivaled turnaround times for our partners. Stevedoring Superintendent The Superintendent is a part of the operations management team and is responsible for the supervision of Stevedoring. Successful candidates must be able to work in a fast paced, drug free environment.

Candidates will monitor loading and unloading sequences to meet all safety and productivity standards, monitor employee attendance, and resolve personnel issues. Individuals should possess the following qualities and must be able to perform the essential job functions: • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills. • Strong attention to detail. • Ability to manage a large, complex and diverse workforce in a fast paced environment.

  • Exceptional problem solving skills in responding quickly and effectively to operational issues. • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and have the ability to supervise and direct groups of individuals. • Must be able to assume a leadership role and participate in safety program. • Ability to coordinate with internal departments, customers and their agents, and vendors.
  • Ability to varied hours, shifts and days as required. Primary Responsibilities: • Supervises union personnel in proper operating procedures, will counsel and discipline as needed. • Enforces productivity levels by supervising workers. • Completes various reports and forms such as time sheets, production, and equipment reports.
  • Plans, holds and documents daily safety meetings; partner with Safety to understand and train workers to adhere to safety procedures while implementing plans to address safety hazards. • Reports problems and issues to appropriate Manager. • Performs other related duties as required. Essential Job Functions: • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds · Set up equipment used to load/unload cargo to/from ship • Guiding cargo between ship and dock • Hooking and unhooking chains/hooks/slings after cargo is placed on the dock • Preparing for the stacking of materials being offloaded on the ship Knowledge and Skill Requirements: • High School diploma required.
(Degree not mandatory but a plus). • Operations Management, experience working in management with 2-5 years experience managing labor. • Knowledge and understanding of cargo stowage and stability strongly desired, but will train • Correspondence and computer skills a must (MS Office, Lotus Notes and AS/400).
