Retail Store General Manager (GM)

JOB SUMMARY
The General Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store is running smoothly and maintained to brand standards. The ideal candidate for this role is a proven leader, with experience in retail and/or hospitality.
The GM needs to be a good example of Kilwins’ Core Values of Do Your Best, Treat Others As You Want to Be Treated, and Have Fun. They are responsible for building relationships in the community, setting and achieving sales goals, training team members, merchandising the store, inventory, and quality control. The GM will need to be available to work during busy times and will spend the majority of their time on the sales floor.
Essential Functions
- Represent and demonstrate Kilwins Core Values, Core Purpose, Core Operating Standards, and Brand Promise.
- Builds and maintains relationships with local businesses, schools, community groups and regional tour companies to increase sales and assist with recruitment.
- Ensures the proven Kilwins model is followed to increase sales and profitability.
- Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of retail operations and the ability to function and train in all areas.
- Ability to manage store operations independently and cover entire shifts as needed.
- Must be able to travel to and work in the local area during the busiest time on a daily and weekly basis including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays. This is a retail position with a general expectation you will be on the floor selling 75% of the time.
- Responsible for team performance and team achievement of operational goals.
- Constantly reviews store environment and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Responsible for customer satisfaction, team member supervision, merchandising plan, inventory management, quality control, and training to our brand standards.
- Displays a “Customer Comes First” attitude by training and holding people accountable for delivering exceptional customer service.

- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others

- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Effectively manage conflict
- Manage store operations independently
- Knowledge of and ability to use all online and support systems
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures. ServSafe certification is required or willingness to obtain within 45 days.
- Ability to manage and follow established documentation system
- Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills in the English language
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time in retail store or training environment
- Must reside locally or be willing to relocate to the Petoskey area
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Previous sales and retail management experience
- Proven track record of relevant accomplishments
- Proficient in Microsoft tools such as Outlook, Excel, Word and TEAMS
- College degree and previous franchising experience preferred
