Lutron is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Strategic Buyer for Contract Manufacturing who can improve the cost, quality, and delivery of our supplier-manufactured finished goods. In this role, you will apply your proven communication skills and business acumen to work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, operations, and business teams to ensure we have solutions that align to the needs of all parties. Your efforts to drive mutually beneficial business terms and annual performance goals will result in our customers having superior quality products on time and at a fair price.
Responsibilities:
- Own the relationships with global suppliers of finished goods, which includes quality, delivery, and cost performance
- Work across engineering, quality, operations, and business teams to ensure specifications, business terms, and annual performance goals make sense for all parties
- Collaborate with suppliers and drive improvement plans to yield mutual benefit and goal attainment
- Own the manufacturing and field quality of supplier-manufactured goods, reviewing performance monthly and developing mitigation plans where performance does not meet goals
- Partner with Lutron’s supplier quality assurance organization to complete onsite audits and conduct detailed follow up on improvement plans
- Lead the introduction of new supplier-manufactured products and work across departments in activities such as: SKU rationalization, lead make vs. buy decisions, and expectation alignment across all parties
- Ensure that any disruptions in quality, delivery or cost are addressed quickly, with action plans
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or related field
- Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0
- 8+ years’ experience in a combination of engineering, quality, and manufacturing or supply chain
- Effective negotiation skills
- Willingness and ability to travel globally 25-50% of the time
- Proven knowledge of electronics manufacturing best practices and quality systems
- Experience in high reliability product design and manufacturing is a plus
