General Responsibilities:

• Design of prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, and structural steel bridge elements using AASHTO LRFD, TxDOT Bridge Design Guide, TxDOT Bridge Design Manual and TxDOT Bridge Detailing Guide
• Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, etc.) for civil structures (e.g. lift stations, wastewater treatment plants, stormwater pump stations)
• Assist with design drawings, specifications, reports, and other project deliverables while working with the structural engineering team and other disciplines
• Make technical assumptions, think independently to complete assigned work, and draw engineering conclusions
• Provide design inputs and reviews of other engineer’s projects
• Participate as a team member, contributing ideas and possible solutions
• Coordinate work with other disciplines such as roadway, hydraulics, and land development
• Develop structural details using specialized software

Required Education/Licenses:

• Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas or obtains a professional engineering license from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
• Understanding technical design requirements and specifications required by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)
• Familiar with AASHTO LRFD, TxDOT Bridge Design Guide, TxDOT Bridge Design Manual and TxDOT Bridge Detailing Guide
• Familiar with Microstation and/or AutoCAD
• Familiarity with engineering software packages such as STAAD Pro, MIDAS Civil, Descus I and II, V-Bent, LPile, spColumn, Merlin Dash, BGS, CAP18, PGSuper, Wincore
• Knowledge of Excel and Excel VBA programming

Required Minimum Experience:

• 4+ years experience in Civil Structures and/or Bridge Design per TxDOT criteria
• Proven experience in handling multiple tasks and deadlines
• Strong communication skills to interact with clients and internal employees
• Candidate must be proactive, have strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be client service oriented
• Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
