Job Description
Position Overview
The Division of Student Affairs seeks to find a dynamic professional to lead us through the implementing of our IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Action) plan. Our division is founded on pillars of trust, hope, growth, compassion and stability – we work to foster an environment in which leaders have autonomous support to achieve the goals and priorities of the division.
Are you a leader who wants to build an inclusive, diverse, and equitable experience for the division staff and programs offered to our Mizzou students? This position is for you. Your primary purpose is to create and sustain a culture that embraces and promotes diversity, inclusion, and equity for both students and division staff.
You will be a Division of Student Affairs leadership team member and report to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. You will work closely with the Mizzou Division of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity to support university goals and priorities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of the Division of Student Affairs inclusion, diversity, and equity strategic plan goals by setting clear benchmarks, holding staff accountable and engaging division wide in strategies, measuring outcomes and reporting to the other leaders on successes and informing leadership of barriers.
Provide leadership, and direction for IDE training and education of student affairs staff, and students - including assessing IDE learning outcomes for staff and students who engage in programs and services offered by Student Affairs.
Support student affairs departments needs and strategies to achieve their goals and the overall division goals supporting the IDEA strategic plan.
Provide leadership and support to Citizenship, the mandatory program on diversity and inclusion for all new students.
Alignment is important so building collaborative relationships and partnerships with the Division of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity, other divisions, colleges, departments, and student organizations to support the IDE goals of the division.
Provide guidance to student affairs leaders when complex, specialized, or sensitive questions and issues relating to equity and inclusion arise.
Provide guidance in navigating responses to bias incidents for Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
Collaborate with the student affairs director of human resources to support strategies to diversify staff applicants and engage and retain diverse staff - ensure an equitable and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
Experience developing, conducting, and evaluating comprehensive inclusion, diversity, and equity education or training programs and knowledge of leading practices for training and education in higher education setting.
Knowledge of diversity and inclusion issues and trends in higher education and promoting an inclusive and equitable culture.
Demonstrated success in developing innovative strategy and driving process improvements regarding diversity and inclusion issues in the workplace.
Experience working with college students, graduate students, and staff members regarding diversity, inclusion, equity, or access related initiatives, situations, or trainings.
Demonstrated experience driving change in an organization without direct supervision of organization staff.
Ability to manage sensitive situations with tact, professionalism, and care.
Leader who can inspire change and work with the culture, context, and environment of a large public university

Salary
$63,860 - $124,690 per year, paid on a monthly basis

Monday-Friday
This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Student Affairs.
