Department
General Function
The Student Receptionist shall carryout those activities which support the effective and efficient operation of the Newaygo County Regional Educational Service Agency, specifically in greeting customers/visitors and operating the switchboard.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate a positive and cooperative personality and have other professional traits including excellent human relation skills, communication skills, and qualities compatible for interacting with the NC RESA’s constituent students, staff, and the public.
- High school graduate, preferably with additional personal computer training.
- Competent with personal computers and related software for database and word processing applications such as Microsoft Office.
- Able to operate a variety of business office machines, including computers, calculators, fax machines, copiers and any others deemed essential for effectiveness.
- Year-round availability preferred.
- Must be attending post-secondary schooling
Essential Duties
Essential duties shall include, but are not limited to:
- Provide phone and customer service to the general public.
- Provide clerical and other duties as requested by the Administrative Assistant to the Learning Services
Department.
- Assist with the scheduling/preparation of professional development activities.
- Creating documents, flyers, presentations and spreadsheets.
- Maintain the Lending Library.
- Ordering office supplies.
- Creating UPS shipments.
- Act as a resource, if needed, to employees, students and the general public visiting the NC RESA.
- Possess knowledge of NC RESA’s organization, mission, and philosophy.
- Perform other duties deemed appropriate by administration.

The Student Receptionist shall be directly accountable to the Administrative Assistant to the Learning Services
Department and shall demonstrate commitment to the mission of the Newaygo County RESA through:

- performance resulting in internal and external consumer satisfaction,
- continuous personal and professional improvement and development,

- supporting the agency and department in the Continuous Improvement Plan.

- Must be able to communicate effectively (language skills).

- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions (reasoning skills).
- Must be physically able to successfully perform the essential functions of the job (physical demands).

Terms of Employment
