WVNCC seeks applicants for Student Recruiter / Advisor. This is an on-campus position on the New Martinsville Campus with college-wide duties.
Supports the enrollment & advising efforts of WV Northern Community College. This person will provide information and touring/visit opportunities to prospective or newly admitted students, creating communication materials, and by representing the College at onsite and offsite locations such as high schools, community events, college fairs, and other recruitment events. Serves as a staff advisor for new and returning students by assisting with registration, informing about academic and institutional policies, and educating about curricular options. Provides success strategies, career counseling, and transfer opportunities for students upon graduation. Collaborate with all staff and faculty departments to ensure student success.
Serve as an external recruiter for the College, with a focus on the New Martinsville area. Support the student recruitment program designed to meet enrollment goals and improve recruitment strategies. Provide enrollment information services to internal and external students about admissions. Provides internal information about recruiting efforts to the College faculty and staff. Providing registration and advising assistance about academic offerings and sharing referrals to internal and external services and resources. Initialing and building relationships with faculty/academic departments and maintaining a working knowledge of program curriculums. Encouraging dialogue about student advising issues, policies, procedures, and promoting collaboration among staff and faculty advisors.

- Provide coordination and serve as the external recruiter within the College’s service region to high schools, business, agencies and outreach entities primarily in the New Martinsville region. However, this person will be required to travel to Wheeling and Weirton, as needed. Visit high schools, vocational schools, employers, area agencies and outreach services for the purposes of admissions recruitment, including early entrance.
- Create, and execute recruitment plan that targets traditional students, adult learners and early entrance students.
- Help manage the Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) and coordinate campaigns with the Communications Department.
- Coordinates and creates other recruitment events such as Career and Technology Education (CTE) Days, College Fairs, OVAC events, and more, with local high schools, including coordinating internal faculty and staff to help with events and provide presentation; and coordinates with the high schools for transportation, event timeline and provide assorted information and Northern items to all in attendance. Responsible for planning, logistics and point person for the event.
- Accumulate and compile admissions contact list for all local schools, servicing agencies and outreach contacts and resources and provide to campus staff. Provide recruitment reports to the administration on a regular basis.\
- Provides recruitment lists of prospective students to WVNCC faculty, program chairs and division chairs upon request.
- Coordinates mailings for recruiting purposes with the Marketing Department and with the purchase of information from third parties such as SAT, ACT, etc.
- May be required to maintains a college cell phone which allows continual communication with new student through text and phone calls including evening and weekend hours, as needed
- Assist with the recruitment of continuing education and distance education students. Coordinate visits and recruitment with the College's Workforce Development office.
- Schedule recruiting itinerary and make all necessary arrangements to facilitate travel and meet program obligations for general recruitment and program specific recruitment including faculty participation.
- Assist with all on campus recruiting events. Assist with phone marketing campaigns.
- Assists Admissions Department with communication and information to recently admitted students up to the point of registration.
- Work with Admissions Department to understand the admissions process to answer questions for prospective students.
- Provide excellent customer service to prospective students through all forms of communication including texting and chat and respond in a timely manner.
- Help plan and implement Open Houses, or registration events, if needed.
- Train and coordinate student work-study duties for the recruitment office functions, as needed
- Relate information (including documentation) about selective admissions programs and requirements for home school admission requirements, international student admission requirements and basic admission policies such as prior disciplinary action limitations.
- Provide information to potential and accepted students and their families about academic, major selection, career choice information, admissions (requirements, processes, policies and procedures), course selection, payment options and student life for all campuses. Must be well versed in financial aid.
- Serve as advisor for new and returning students to educate about program offerings, curricular options, and program requirements.
- Inform students about academic and institutional policies and procedures by maintaining a working knowledge of program curriculums and procedures.
- Promoting collaboration between faculty and staff advisors and building relationships with academic departments.
- Providing referrals to internal and external services and resources and responding to a vast array of questions via phone, email, walk-in, and scheduled appointments.
- Using Banner and other college software systems to track and document advising sessions, communication, and student progress.
- Assist students with career counseling and transfer opportunities upon graduation.
