Position Description
Assists with the development and implementation of special events. Facilitates production of events by communicating with vendors, guests, internal staff and customers.
Major/Essential Functions
- Primary areas will have a heavy focus on the technical areas of the Allen Theater and the Student Union. Areas will include but not be limited to lighting, sound, back line, and working with stage crew. Additionally, AV and sound for projectors in meeting rooms.
- Booking and scheduling of the Allen Theatre, a public meeting and performance space used by student organizations, campus departments, and the general public. Management and supervision of Allen Theatre student staff.
- Must be able to manage a performance Theater and work in partnership with other campus entities for shared space and events. Must be a collaborator and be able to create new ways to use space.
- Evaluation/review of new or replacement equipment for theatre, including inventory of existing equipment. Dispose of and maintain all theatrical equipment as needed.
- Work with the Assistant Director of Events and Guest Services in all functions of events and programs in all SUB outdoor spaces. (Red Raider Plaza, West Plaza, North Plaza)
- Provide assistance to SUB staff and student staff in regard to audio/visual and sound needs in all meeting and function spaces within the Student Union.
- Supervise Allen Theater Student Staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus one year related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience equal to five years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge in computerized lighting systems. Intermediate knowledge in audio and visual equipment and large-scale audio systems as it relates to event spaces. Items to include but not be limited to: microphones, computers, projectors, streaming systems, portable sound systems, lighting and sound in a theater. Intermediate knowledge in theatre rigging systems.
- Extensive knowledge in all aspects of technical theatre. Bachelor's degree in theatre or related field.
- Ability to train and supervisor theatre technicians.
