POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse with Pediatric Experience to work with Montgomery County Department of Recreation Camp Programs. This full-time, temporary position pays $48 an hour.
Employees assigned to this position are subject to Union membership, fees, and dues in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, and employment with ATHENA may be conditioned upon participation in client’s Union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Montgomery County Department of Recreation is seeking two full-time Registered Nurses with pediatric experience to serve as Camp Nurses for the upcoming summer camp season. The ideal candidates will have a passion for working with children, previous camp experience, and the ability to provide high-quality medical care in a camp setting. This is a temporary position for the duration of the camp season.
Attend mandatory staff training and orientations as follows:
- All Staff Training: June 10th, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Northwood HS for orientation.
Camp Director Orientation: June 20th, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Nurse 1 Schedule: June 26th, 2023, to August 4th, 2023. Nurse 2 Schedule: June 26th, 2023, to August 18th, 2023.
Work shifts:
- Nurse 1: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (8 hours with a 30-minute lunch break).
Nurse 2: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM (8 hours with a 30-minute lunch break).
Assist in the submission of paperwork for COMAR camp approval by providing a copy of one nurse's license.
Participate in staff meet-and-greet orientations to familiarize yourself with the team and facilities.
Attend a team meeting on the first day to collaborate with other medical staff, including Registered Nurses, Medical Technicians, and Recreation staff. Develop a comprehensive coverage plan.
New nurses will be paired with experienced med techs to gain insight into the camp's operations and procedures.
Utilize provided vehicles (either fleet or rentals) for transportation purposes. Nurses must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Pediatric nursing experience is essential.
- Previous camp experience is a bonus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Flexibility and adaptability to a dynamic camp environment.
· Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.

· Ability to prioritize tasks.
· Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.
· Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, however evening and weekend hours may be required.
· Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
