Job Roles
- Build positive relationships, inspire others to perform at a higher level, prepare career development plans and retain an accountable workforce.
- Coach and counsel staff and administer appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner.
- Provide/ensure staff receive all new hire and annual trainings on time.
- Provide oversight of patient and referral services through tracking deliverables and conducting data analysis and report writing.
- Ensure expeditious and efficient patient flow of PDS Patient Services.
- Serve as the escalation point in resolving difficult and complex issues by working closely with staff and health plans in obtaining updates and settle authorization discrepancies and inconsistencies.
- May have a small case load of high-need clients to include one-on-one services with clients.
- Collect and disseminate performance and status data covering areas supervised.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and ensure appropriate Lean tools (i.e., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured.
- Provide support to Manager by assisting with daily operations, managing staffing schedules, calendaring, and resolving bottlenecks to enhance service levels.
- Track expected and projected deliverables on a regular basis, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and departmental requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalency required.
- Bachelor's degree in public health, healthcare administration, business administration, or closely related field preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
- Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No more than 2 violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 7 years.
Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)
- 3 – 5 years of experience facilitating the referral process, or scheduling medical appointments and/or billing patients.
- 2 years of supervisory or lead experience highly desirable.
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques to include performance management and employee development.
- Knowledge of medical referrals processes and insurance/payor requirements.
- Knowledge of insurance providers, their portals and their expectations for authorization approval.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time-management skills, and strong motivation to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people possessing different cultures, life experiences, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Ability to multi-task, be flexible, ensure accuracy, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-workload environment.
