Position Overview

The Support Service Lead (Dietary) is located at our Illinois Veterans’ Home. This is a lead worker position and provides guidance to Dietary Department. In addition, the Support Service Lead will play a vital role in the mission of creating and maintaining a unique positive atmosphere within the Dietary Department. Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as designated lead worker

  • Assigns and review work
  • Provides guidance and training to assigned staff
  • Advises immediate supervisor regarding performance of staff

2. Directs and monitors the daily activities of support service workers

  • Sets priorities and reviews work to assure accurate and timely performance
  • Provides feedback orally and in writing and discusses problem areas with employees
  • Provides guidance and on-the job training to support service workers

3. Performs routine support service duties by assisting in any area of the dietary department as needed or required

4. Serves as relief for the shift Support Service Coordinator in their absence

  • Assists in preparation of work schedules and contacts employees for overtime as necessary
  • Assigns staff to specific work areas

5. Reports equipment malfunctions and hazardous working conditions to the immediate supervisor

6. Assists with the overall operation of the department by participating and providing recommendations for the development of policy and methods of operation, enforcing department and facility policies and regulations, and reporting staff and resident behavior inconsistent with accepted standards.

7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

1. Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school
2. Current Illinois Food Service Sanitation certificate, as issued by the Illinois Dept. of Public Health
3. One (1) year of experience in the dietary field

Conditions of Employment

1. Must pass a background check
2. Must complete a drug screen and pre-employment physical
3. Must meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance
4. Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime

Work Hours: 11:30-7:30 Every Other Weekend Off
