Overview
The General Surgery Department at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center consists of 11 operating rooms. Throughout the unit we are committed to using the latest technology, affording staff the opportunity to constantly learn and enhance their skills. As a Level I Trauma Center, we are operational 24/7. As our surgical services nurse at SJHMC, you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing care when they are at their most vulnerable.
Responsibilities
The Surgical Tech assists physicians and nurses during surgical procedures and in preparation for surgery in order to deliver safe competent care to our patients. Responsible for maintaining thesterile field being constantly vigilant that the scrubbed members of the team adhere to aseptic/sterile technique. Assembles and processes sterile instrument trays and equipment. Expedites the operativeprocedure by anticipating the needs of the Surgeon. Provides procedural circulating support. Performs instrument sponge and equipment counts. Identifies and responds to advanced clinical issues as well as serves as a resource to other staff

Prepare for assigned surgical procedures with proper instrumentation and sterilization- Navigate the nuances of surgical procedures and surgeons you’ll be supporting
- Adapt to the needs of emergency situations
- Provide clean-up and turnover of operating room to prepare for next patient
Qualifications
Minimum

Minimum of four (4) years clinicalexperience as a surgical technologist
Preferred

Surgical Tech Program Graduatepreferred

Preferred - Graduate of accreditedsurgical technologist program and certifiedas a surgical technologist

CT - ORT andfour (4) years clinical experience
