Job Description:
The Senior, Tax Planning will be a key member of our tax department focused on collaboration of critical elements of tax planning, compliance, and accounting as we continue to grow our real estate business on both a REIT and Investment Fund platform. The Senior, Tax Planning will report to the Director, Tax Planning, but will have the opportunity to work with a variety of members of the tax department on cross functional projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with coordination of legal, accounting, and tax functions for relevant documentation associated with tax structuring and planning.
- Work with outside advisors regarding technical/planning matters
- Assist and with international tax matters including distribution tax withholding matters
- Track and maintain intercompany agreements including related forecasting
- Prepare rent projections for our senior housing portfolio
- Assist with review and preparation of federal and state income tax returns and associated informational returns.
- Assist with preparing tax projections for planning and compliance purposes
- Assist with transfer pricing studies
- Assist with preparing quarterly REIT compliance testing
- Assist with researching federal, state and local income tax matters and help determine impact of legislative changes
- Track and maintain relevant legal entity events and share quarterly with other members of tax department
- Assist tax department management in any and all miscellaneous matters to improve efficiency of tax department and ensure that all processes are completed timely.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of relevant tax experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other Microsoft Office products
- Experience with working with accounting and general ledger systems
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA
- Public accounting experience
