The Help Group is currently seeking a ECSE Special Education Teacher for our Young Learners School at our campus in Culver City, CA!

Our Young Learners School is an evidence-based, comprehensive, early intervention school program designed to serve children between 2.9 and 5 years of age with autism spectrum disorder. This unique preschool offers an intensive, six hour per day, five day per week special education program featuring small class size and teacher: student ratio of at least 1:3. Through specialized, evidence-based assessment and curriculum, a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach and family involvement, our mission is to create a positive, dynamic learning environment to help students with autism spectrum disorder reach their maximum potential.

Young Learners Preschool, Culver City Campus, is certified by the California State Department of Education. Young Learners Preschool, Culver City Campus, operates under the auspices of Village Glen School, which is certified by the California State Department of Education. Young Learners is licensed by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. The Young Learners Preschool was established with the support of a generous grant from First 5 LA and is recognized by First 5 LA as a model of excellence.

IDEAL CANDIDATE POSSESSES:

• Bachelors in Education or a related field is required.
• Early Childhood Special Education credential is required; OR the ability to qualify for an Intern. Credential, Provisional Internship Permit or Short-Term Staff Permit.
• Experience teaching students with autism and/or learning disabilities is preferred.
• Experience teaching Spanish to students in a professional setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, coordinate and implement individual student programs.
• Select appropriate curriculum content for each student.
• Determine appropriate, measurable goals and objectives for each student.
• Write individual education plans (IEPs) and participate in IEP meetings.
• Employ a trans-disciplinary approach to education, conferring with team members as appropriate for particular issues.
• Prepare or secure necessary instructional materials.
• Modify activities and adapt materials to promote student success.
• Design and use instructional grouping patterns that are varied and flexible, including individual, small group, and whole class instruction.
• Employ clear, predictable daily and weekly schedules, which accommodate students' needs.
• Prepare a weekly plan book to detail lesson plans, grouping, activities, staff assignments, and other relevant information.
• Employ appropriate, individualized teaching and reinforcement techniques to maximize student achievement.
