Position Summary
We are looking for a friendly, detail oriented, organized professional to serve as our Technical Director in a creative environment. It is important that our Technical Director is courteous, helpful and professional in all interactions. This position has a significant role in the operations of DaySpring. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to follow standard procedures.

Report to: Producer
Hours: 20 hr. per week

The Technical Director is responsible for managing all technical aspects of DaySpring’s youth productions. The Technical
Director could additionally design various technical elements of our productions, including set, lighting, sound, etc.

Responsibilities

● Attend all meetings for production; from concept through post mortem
● Provide good communication with show director, technical designers, and other staff for productions
● Supervise work of students, parents, volunteers during set build, operation, and strike
● Manage shop space, technical equipment, and Black Box theatre space.
● Assist in managing budget for technical aspects of production
● Acquire necessary tools and supplies for use in furnishing productions and maintain inventory
● Assist in execution of necessary technical support, such as lighting and sound
● Coordinate the build, transportation and installation of theatre set including lighting, and props for the show.
● Run the technical aspects of stage management and the crew during shows
● Work with Tech Teacher to coordinate student involvement
● Communicate with off-site venues for shows
● Maintain clean shop and return shop back to original condition at the end of each production

Skills

● Knowledge of safety and best practices in working with tools and equipment
● Organized and able to work within timelines provided
● Strong oral communication skills with all ages, including students
● Critical thinking, detail oriented, problem solving skills
● Carpentry, painting, use of power tools

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
