The Silicon and Cloud Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox, Skype, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and datacenter infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow, the ability to support silicon and hardware engineering efforts is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the SCHIE Hardware Lab Management Team is instrumental in partnering and providing the engineering teams with critical hardware lab space, resources, and support.

Responsibilities

  • Drive lab process alignment and resource sharing across teams and programs
  • Manage daily procurement activities, lab spend tracking, and budget fiscal planning
  • Oversee management of lab materials inventory
  • Lead analysis and modeling to support lab metrics and associated analytics reporting
  • Drive lab process automation, process improvement, and increased efficiency
  • Document evolving lab processes/procedures and implement to across all labs
  • Govern lab safety, security, and compliance and provide consistent reporting to lab stakeholders

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years project or people management experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.


Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g. Business Administration, Management, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) AND 5+ years of experience in business planning, project management, procurement and other related roles;
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of people management experience
  • 4+ year(s) of managing cross-functional work with diverse teams
  • Knowledge and experience driving business operations including fiscal planning, procurement, compliance, and cross-functional alignment
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational and documentation skills with attention to details
  • Collaborative, flexible, self-motivated, problem-solver
  • Experience in analytics/metrics reporting
  • Experience in hardware lab support/safety/security/compliance
  • Experience in Azure DevOps, POWER BI, SharePoint
  • MS Office skills: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio


Technical Program Management M4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
