Hicks Oils and Hicks Gas is looking to fill a technical staff position in their oil blending facility in DuQuoin, IL.

This position is a diversified multi-part job that in general includes the testing of petroleum-based oils using various industry standard analytical test methods and managing floor personal in the oil blending and packaging facility.

Primary responsibilities:

- Testing raw materials to verify adherence to established specifications

- Generating production blends in coordination with production/packaging staff

- Testing final production blends to verify compliance within industry set standards

- Maintaining an established sample retention program

- Generating sample size productions of customer specific or specialized lubricants

- Coordinating production schedules between blending, production, and packaging

- Supervising and managing production line workers

- Contribute to and work within an ISO 9001 quality management system to improve operation and quality of product and customer service

- Working with sales staff and customers on technical aspects of lubrication including product development.

Successful applicants will have:

- A bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering field

- A strong mathematical background

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Strong quality control lab skills, working within industry set test procedures

- Competent general computer skills including Microsoft Office

- The capability to trouble shoot issues in respects to: quality concerns, organization, production constraints, staff interaction, and customer/supply relations

- The ability to multitask several projects under specific time constraints

Preferred applicants will have:

- Experience working with testing, blending, and packaging petroleum based lubricants

- Experience working in or managing a production and packaging facility

- Experience working in an ISO 9001 or other quality standard manufacturing facility

- A practical ability of trouble shooting production equipment

- Familiarity with regulatory compliance including: OSHA HAZCOM, SPCC, and SWPPP

- An open attitude to working on unique situations that are not commonly defined in one’s job description
