Position Description
The CYSB Community Facilitator functions as staff for the Youth Services Bureau and is responsible for the implementation of programming and facilitation of coalition activities in town. This individual will utilize community surveys and reports to address community strengths, areas of development, and youth leadership in the Canton community. Coordinates and consults with social service agencies, school staff, community groups, private practitioners, clergy, and police regarding the needs of youth, families, and the public in general.
Supervision received
The CYSB Community Facilitator is supervised by the Director of Parks & Recreation and receives direction from the Youth Services Bureau.
Examples of Essential Job Functions
· Establish, identify, recruit, and retain a youth coalition.
· Work closely with youth including to engage youth with coalition’s efforts.
· Responsible for the planning and implementing of monthly coalition meetings and identifying additional needs of the coalition including training for members.
· Prepares for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, social media and related communications regarding youth programs in accordance with Town policies.
· Prepares a variety of studies, reports and related information for decision-making purposes.
· Effectively facilitate coalitions as well as an understanding of community strategies utilized to address equity, areas of need for development of programming, and promote mental health with an intergenerational approach.
· Create materials aimed at promoting healthy youth behavior and positive community change.
· Interact with Parks & Recreation to share data and publicity regarding programs and grants.
· Work with the CYSB with the administering of youth surveys when/if applicable; coordinate with school, interpret and disseminate data to community.
· Program specific data collection and reporting to funders, including grant opportunities.
· Attendance at and participation in meetings, trainings, and other learning opportunities to remain up to date on LPC and other community-based development strategies.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of clinical work, group work, positive youth development and community engagement; thorough knowledge of current psycho-social, economic and environmental issues impacting client base; thorough knowledge of child, adolescent, and adult behavioral health issues and the problem-solving process; thorough knowledge of the programs and services impacting youth and their families.
· Ability to acquire a working knowledge of human service demographic, and community cultural and social mores.
· Ability to develop suitable programs and services to meet human and social service needs.
· The ability to deal effectively with town and state officials, members of the public and the media in meeting department objectives
· Demonstrates ability to effectively implement initiatives with diverse populations in a culturally responsive and respectful manner is required.
· Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office software (including Word and Excel) and use of the internet.
· Successful experience working with community coalitions.
· Must display excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in collaboration with schools, law enforcement and other community leaders.
· Familiar with the principles and practices of youth services and the ability to work within the structure and operation of municipal government.
· Considerable ability to follow established priorities, meet deadlines and maintain quality of work in multitask settings.
· Considerable knowledge of office computer programs, networks, internet and basic website maintenance.
· Commitment to excellence in customer service.
· Ability to use tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment.
· Ability to work with minimum supervision.
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information as necessary.
Required Physical and Mental Effort and Environmental Conditions

While performing duties of the job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Business travel may be required. The employee will be required to provide his/her own transportation.

Required Minimum Qualifications
The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Education, Social Science, Counseling, Social Work or some closely related field, and two (2) years of experience in youth and family services including experience in working with community coalitions or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
License or Certificate:
· Must possess a valid driver’s license.
