Full Job Description

Design, engineer, and develop production tools and dies. Study and build prototype pieces, die models, and templates based on customer applications, engineering blueprints, and tool orders. Collaborate with engineering specialists to resolve design and technical problems regarding material components, manufacturing, and machinery requirements. Assemble and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, radial drill presses, shapers, and grinders and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications. Analyze data from trials and production and modify tool designs to improve tool life and performance. Develop tool mechanisms using tridimensional and mathematic configurations that verify dies and other components’ dimensions, clearances, and alignment, working with tolerances as close as 0.0005 inches. Conduct theoretical and mechanical analysis to enhance the fabrication, assembly, and performance of tools and dies within the overall mechanical and hydraulic process. Examine the shapes, dimensions, and clearances of tools to verify conformance to specifications and inspect finished dies for irregularities, contour congruity, and defects. Ensure accurate analysis of tool and die repair and maintenance. Stay abreast of the latest advances in tool and die making and engineering to drive the continuous improvement of our tool and die making methodology and service offerings.
