Tool Repair Technician Level 3 Job at Petmate

Summary: Supports improvement and maintenance of new tools and repair & PM process of existing tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Good knowledge of plastic injection, blow molding, and stamping.

2. Ability to work & trouble shoot Hot Runner Systems, DME Cables & Boards that support the hot runner systems.

3. Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and modifications on injections molds & dies.

4. Ability to fabricate components from blueprints and layouts.

5. Ability to trouble shoot tools to identify root causes for flash, shorts, burns, broken cores, and ejector pins etc.

6. Fabricate tools, fixtures, molds, and other components in support of manufacturing.

7. Ability to work with precision instruments. (Calipers, micrometer, dial indicators, gauge blocks etc.)

8. Ability to set up and operate all machine shop equipment, including milling, lathe, and surface grinders.

9. Ability to make and time gate pins

10. Ability to fabricate and rebuild hydraulic cylinders and parts

12. Adhere to all shop safety procedures

13. Follow and improve shop processes

14. Good knowledge of all areas of machine shop theory and practice.

15. Optimize customer service through teamwork and communication.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of 5 years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations with vendors and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel, AutoCAD. Mattec software knowledge preferred.
