What would a typical day look like?
If you know anything about startups, you know that working for one means wearing multiple hats… sort of like having a major and a minor in college. That’s how we like to think of our roles here at OneVision.
This Trainer position has as its “major” a focus on onboarding and training for our external Partners (local home technology companies located all across the country). The Trainer wakes up every morning, sometimes in random cities across the country (unless COVID restrictions are in place), with one primary thought on his/her mind: what can I do today to make sure our Partners are equipped with the right tools, processes, and proper training to leverage OneVision’s platform?
With this primary question in mind, the Trainer focuses upon delivering remote and in-person training to our partners’ team, and navigating them through the critical integration of the new processes and systems in with their existing framework. The Trainer works closely with our Senior Trainer, who runs point on navigating the onboarding experience for new partners, and the Partner Success Specialists who manage the ongoing Partner relationships. The Trainer ensures that partner-specific integrations are documented and outstanding issues discovered are communicated to others on the OneVision team, so that all the Trainer’s hard work can be leveraged to allow that Partner to kick ass.
Some examples of a Trainer’s typical daily activities are as follows:
- Setting, planning for, and leading video-conference meetings and trainings with various representatives from new and existing Partner teams;
- Preparing for, traveling to, and leading on-site onboardings/trainings across the US and Canada (or doing so virtually when COVID protocols call for it);
- Understanding the latest iterations to our platform, and internalizing how to best educate and train our Partners on said iterations;
- Consulting with Partner’s leadership team on how to integrate the OneVision platform into their unique organization prior to the full team training, then modifying the presentations as needed;
- Thinking about new ways to secure full buy-in and engagement in our platform from new and existing Partners, and then executing upon those ideas;
- Establishing yourself as a strategic ally to the leadership teams of our Partners, and leveraging that relationship to drive change management within our Partners’ organizations;
- Studying and internalizing (and even suggesting) modifications to our various platforms and offerings (as stated above, we literally iterate on a daily basis);
- Communicating the needs of our new Partners back to the appropriate persons within our company;
- Working with our Senior Trainer to create and lead webinars that are focused individually on certain Partners, or that are more generally industry-focused.
- Supporting our Senior Trainer in the strategic and tactical build-out of our training materials;
- Training internal OneVision employees and reps on the platform and culture.
In this role, the Trainer supports ongoing efforts to build and deliver Partner-facing and industry-facing training modules for both our Help Center and presentations. This will require brainstorming sessions, strategically focused meetings, and ongoing conversations with our Senior Trainer and our Product team concerning the overall goals of the training modules. It also includes diving into the granular and tactical side of training content production, recording audio and video tracks and tinkering to get the style just right.
So that’s a good look at what a Trainer’s “major” looks like!
As training needs ebb and flow, the Trainer also minors in being a Brand Ambassador for OneVision. This includes things like:
- Designing and leading workshops & training sessions at various industry events;
- Supporting the sales team out in the field by doing in-person consultations or presentations with potential Partners;
- Collaborating with the Director of Partner Development on ways to engage the Partner community, such as, managing a Partner Advisory Committee and Partner Slack Space.
Curious if you’ll fit our culture?
- Do you believe there’s always room for improvement? We are constantly in the pursuit of perfection when it comes to our client experience.
- Do you always have a backup plan? Things rarely go according to plan, so it’s important to be prepared. Or have MacGyver’s cell number.
- Are you frequently putting yourself in others’ shoes? We pride ourselves on being empathetic to any partner’s situation, and give them the benefit of the doubt.
- Do you always dot your i’s and cross your t’s? Attention to detail is a must. We don’t bend on this one.
- Can you keep a secret? Good, because our end-users’ privacy is a top priority.
- Are you happy to lend a helping hand? We’re a small, tight-knit group and at times all wear a number of different hats.
- Are you transparent and do you prefer addressing the elephant in the room? We pride ourselves on being upfront and honest, and believe it’s one of the things that sets us apart from the pack.
- Do you pick up the ball that someone else may have dropped? We’re looking for people that own the company goals beyond just doing their job.
Are you OK with making a mistake? We are too, as long as we learn from them and don’t repeat.
