Position Summary:
As an Operations Training Specialist, you will play a vital role in training and developing our team members in Machine operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for CNC machining and teaching to kick-start their career in training and development. This role will assist in creating training content & assist with the training of manufacturing employees. Supports training by performing necessary course and room preparation as well as tracking day-to-day training activities and requirements. This is a matrixed role that is dedicated to operations but reports into the Human Resources Manager for Training and Development.
- Conduct Training Sessions: Deliver comprehensive training programs to new hires and existing employees on CNC machine operation, setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Curriculum Development: Using standard work instructions, assist in creating or preparing training content, update training materials, presentations, and manuals to ensure they align with industry standards, best practices, and company requirements.
- Practical Demonstrations: Conduct practical demonstrations to trainees, showcasing proper techniques and safety procedures for CNC machine operation and programming.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to trainees during hands-on training sessions, addressing any questions, concerns, or difficulties they may encounter.
- Skill Assessment: Evaluate the progress and skill levels of trainees through practical assessments and written exams, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
- Training Documentation: Works with LMS administrator to maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, assessments, and progress reports for each trainee, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Stay Updated: Continuously research and stay up-to-date with advancements in CNC technology, machining techniques, and industry trends, incorporating relevant updates into training programs.
- Safety Adherence: Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, emphasizing safe operating practices and raising awareness of potential hazards in the CNC machining environment.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production managers, engineers, and quality control personnel, to understand their training needs and develop tailored programs.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in process improvement initiatives, providing insights and suggestions to enhance training methods, materials, and overall effectiveness. Continuous Improvement certifications or experience desirable.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred but not necessary. Relevant certifications or technical education in CNC machining is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in some level of training preferred (1:1, coaching, peer trainer, etc.). Experience in operating and programming CNC machines will be advantageous.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of CNC machine operation, programming, tooling, and maintenance. Familiarity with different types of CNC machines, such as milling, turning, or grinding, is desirable.
- Technical Skills: Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software. Should expect to work within UKG LMS as needed.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrates comfortable ability interacting with internal and external customers on a daily basis.
- Teaching Skills: Passion for teaching and the ability to transfer knowledge effectively to individuals with varying levels of experience and understanding.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy when training and assessing trainees' skills and performance.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues related to CNC machines and develop solutions.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple training sessions, prioritize tasks, and non-routine situations and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision.
- Teamwork: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team and build positive relationships with trainees and colleagues.
- Adaptability: In a small team no task is to great or to small and you should expect to do general admin tasks necessary to ensure the successful delivery of training.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
