Under the general direction of the Translation Services manager, the English-Spanish Translator translates, edits, and proofreads printed, displayed, and audiovisual communications from English to Spanish and Spanish to English. Uses Déjà Vu or similar database-supported translation software to process translations, add terminology to the existing glossaries, and build the unit’s specialized databases. Performs research, consultation, editing and proofing for accuracy, consistency and to fit the intended audience. Communicates with clients to understand program specialized terminology to ensure accurate translations. Maintains a predictable work schedule, and when required with little notice, works a flexible schedule that includes night and weekend work.

1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Spanish, Translation, Localization or related field.
2. Minimum three years paid experience as a full-time translator or four years as a part-time or freelance translator.
3. Full proficiency speaking, writing and editing in English and in Spanish.
4. Experience using computer-assisted translation tools, such as Déjà Vu, Trados, memoQ, or similar software.
Applicants selected for interviews will be required to provide a portfolio of work and complete an English-to-Spanish translation test.
