Transportation Supervisor 3rd Shift Job at Granite City Electric

The Transportation Supervisor will report to the Director of Operations, East Region. This person will be responsible for maintaining driver schedules and deliveries as well as maintaining system accuracy and the supervision of up to 18 drivers. In general, the normal work hours will be from 5:00 PM until approximately 2:00 AM, Monday-Friday.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain courteous, prompt and efficient customer relations
- Plans and schedules appropriate modes of transportation based on daily customer needs
- Ensures proper documentation, including pre and post trip inspections and hours of service documentation required by DOT.
- Involvement in the hiring, training, motivating and general supervision of the night drivers.
- Responsible to interact with other departments to resolve problems and improve the delivery process.
- Responsible for ensuring daily all SOPs are followed.
- Responsible for providing detailed and objective performance reviews on time annually.
- Responsible for providing a safe working environment and ensuring timely resolution of any unsafe practices or conditions.
- Communication of information to warehouse personnel and communication of issues to sales and/or management.
- Perform delivery route analysis and implement recommendations to improve overall delivery operations through waste elimination and streamlined operations.
- Create reports to routinely measure performance and identify potential problems.
- Promote a team based and positive working environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary
- High School diploma. - undergraduate degree preferred
- At least 2 years related supervisory or leadership experience in a warehouse and/or distribution center environment.
- Previous experience with managing drivers and/routing role.
- Equivalent education or experience may be substituted for any of the above.
