Transportation Supervisor Job at Southwest Traders Inc
Schedule - Tuesday through Saturday
Oversee delivery routing, dispatching for a 24/7 food service operation. The Transportation Supervisor will be involved with the day-to-day operation of the department including training, corrective actions, and employee evaluations for a team of drivers. This position requires someone who can work in a fast-paced environment and is a strong team leader, possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as interpersonal.
Scope of Work: Includes, but is not limited to:
· Perform general supervision of the daily operations of the transportation department, including the supervision of team members. 40%
· Problem solving to include team member development and coaching. Measure and analyze key performance indicators. 20%
· Team member selection, hiring, training, counseling, development, coaching, reviews, retention, scheduling & termination. 10%
· Schedules drivers, arranges routes, and allocates vehicles for deliveries. 10%
· Monitors, schedules, coordinate maintenance, repairs, fueling and specialty needs. 10%
· Communicates with customers in regards to operating schedules and delivery problems. 10%
· Monitors and insures compliance to all DOT and state regulations
· Focus on error reductions, improving customer service and on time deliveries with delivery teams
· The ability to react to day-to-day operational requirements in a professional and timely manner
· Able to comprehend and manage department budgets and meet company goals
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills along with the ability to provide clear and concise details regarding cause and effect, both verbally and in writing
· Long hours spent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), twisting, crouching, bending and reaching
· Exposure to extreme temperatures (both hot and cold)
· Climbing in and out of industrial vehicles and up and down service ramps on a repetitive basis
· Ability to operate industrial equipment such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· 3 years Supervisory experience with proven proficiency in Transportation and Fleet Management. Food Service experience is highly preferred however not mandatory.
· Strong working knowledge of DOT and state rules and regulations
· Possess or ability to obtain a valid Class “A” CDL license
· Strong computer experience – specifically with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)
· WMS and RF systems
· Strong analytical and mathematical skills
· Experience with various fork lift machinery and electric pallet jacks
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· Associates degree or a combination of education and work experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
