Position Purpose:

Performs various direct patient care activities and assigned Unit duties under the supervision of licensed staff. Transports and assists in moving patients. Keeps operating rooms clean, orderly, safe and sanitary. Performs other duties as delegated.

Position Duties (not all inclusive):

• Uses proper bed/ stretcher to transport patient with side rails up and patients’ extremities positioned inside rails. Cleans and returns stretchers to proper area.
• Confirm patient’s ID using the armbands and two identifiers before transport.
• Verifies operative procedure with patient and/or family.
• Ensures equipment is properly cleaned and stored following procedures.
• Cleans and stocks warmers and blankets when needed.
• Cleans operating rooms according to AORN standards and hospital policy/procedures. Responsible for terminal cleaning of all OR Suites when appropriate.
• Helps move patient from Operating Room bed to stretcher when needed.
• Assist in internal patient transfer, admissions and discharges.

Requirements:

• BLS (CPR) Certification
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Previous patient care experience preferred
• Knowledge of positioning of patients, proper disposal of contaminated trash, hazardous material and infection control standards, universal precautions, creating and maintaining a sterile environment (preferred)
