BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for reviewing credit data to evaluate and underwrite consumer loan requests submitted through the direct and indirect lending channels. Oversees the loan application process to ensure the credit union’s lending policies and procedures are followed.

TYPICAL DUTIES
Reviews and evaluates all information provided on the application, credit report and credit record in order to assess the character, capacity and creditworthiness of the applicant. Renders and communicates the decision to the loan officer, the applicant, or dealer.

Reviews and evaluates proof of income, tax returns and financial statements and other pertinent documents to assess the applicant’s ability to repay.

Assists lending personnel with guidance on the credit union’s lending policies and procedures. Coaches and mentors the lending staff on structuring loans and performing the credit analysis to ensure consistency and efficiency in lending.

This position may require weekend and holiday work to meet work volumes

Responsible for opening and closing the building before or after work hours.

Monitors all user computer systems/software to ensure they are fully operational and communicates any problems to the appropriate area.

Refers complex, problem or out-of-guideline loans to a member of the Loan Review Committee-Level II, Supervisor, Management, or Credit Committee with a recommendation.

Assists in monitoring, reviewing, and making recommendations to the lending criteria on the loan origination system.

Visits the dealerships on a regular basis to promote GECU’s Indirect Lending Program and to establish goodwill among the area dealerships.

Maintains a solid, positive, and professional working relationship with the dealers in order to increase the Credit Union’s Indirect Lending market share.

Informs dealers of any updates or changes in the credit union’s products, services or procedures.

Attends dealer functions after hours as required.

Reviews the post-audit letters received from members and contacts members and/or dealers on collateral irregularities.

Reviews and makes corrections, as needed, to the batch letters generated through the loan origination system.

Maintains a high level of professionalism at all times when working with automobile dealerships and other credit union personnel.

Meets periodically with branch office lending personnel.

Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU’s established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).

Performs duties with a minimum of direct supervision.

Performs other duties assigned or required in connection with either the general operation of consumer lending or the Credit Union.

Level II

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Excellent judgment skills to make quick decisions within or outside written policy and procedures.

Extensive knowledge of credit union services, including lending, new accounts and other credit union operations.

Ability to function effectively under pressure, manage time wisely, prioritize work and assignments, and able to perform duties with minimum supervision.

Basic knowledge of business law and detailed knowledge of consumer credit laws and regulations. A thorough understanding of the credit union’s loan policies and procedures.

Good knowledge of the market value and methods of appraising all types of collateral.

Ability to analyze all types income documents and financial statements.

Good knowledge of the Credit Union’s Loan Origination System.

Good understanding of the department’s end of the month reports.

Good organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.

Working knowledge of the calculator, PC and software; quick and accurate with figures.

High School diploma or equivalent with two years similar or related experience.

Requires sitting the majority of the day, reaching below shoulder level continuously, lifting up to 10 pounds, twisting and reaching above shoulder level frequently, bending, squatting, and twisting.

This position requires the employee to work from home but may require onsite onboarding and training.

Hours of Availability: Monday- Saturday: 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Rotating schedule to include occasional Sundays and Federal holidays
