Serco is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Unmanned Software Support Engineer to join our team supporting our contract with NIWC Pacific.
Discover this great opportunity working onsite Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) within San Diego, California specifically at the Unmanned Vehicles (UMV) Laboratory. The NIWC UMV Lab serves as the materiel, maintenance, and logistics support commodity manager for EOD and USMC commands using Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV). As the Unmanned Software Support Engineer, you will maintain existing operational software, perform updates and fixes, and support configuration control for current and future ROV systems. Future systems will be part of the Maritime Expeditionary Standoff Response (MESR) Family of Systems program of record.
This position is Contingent on your ability to obtain, maintain, and transfer your secret clearance post employment.
In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $72,337.57 to $120,562.62 however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
In this role you will:
Assists in defining specifications for software programming applications and/or oversees the maintenance of existing programs to ensure continued performance and compliance with current guidelines and standards.- Has ability to work independently and under general direction ensuring daily reporting requirements are upheld to ensure continuous support to customer missions.
- Possesses knowledge of a variety of software development environments.
- Performs software tests/investigation and provide clarification to the team about how the software works in order to assist them in development efforts.
- Possesses ability to work well with a team of engineering support staff from all disciplines.
- Performs all necessary aspects of the programming phase of software development including coding, testing, debugging and documenting using current guidelines and standards.
- Develops architecture requirements and performance standards to meet customer specifications.
- May perform systems modeling, simulation and analysis.
- Receives guidance from experienced software developers/architects.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by onsite lead system engineer and upper management.
Qualifications:
To be successful in the role you will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline plus 2 to 4 years of directly related experience.- US citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance Post employment.
- In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey dat
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Familiar with the principles, practices, and procedures used in software and systems development
- Eligibility for a Secret Clearance, although not required prior to date of hire
- 25% travel required
