Job Description


Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced CPA Assistant Controller, responsible for managing the accounting policies, procedures, and practices of the USA operations in accordance with Group and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). Areas of responsibility include: Payroll, [Billing, Accounts Receivable], Taxes and Compliance.

Reporting to the Financial Controller - USA, the Assistant Controller is a key role for the USA business to support anticipated strong growth for this $200m+ construction and management consulting firm focused on three industry segments: real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources.

Duties include providing timely and accurate financial information to the Group, Board of Directors and external professionals, supervise the audit and tax processes as well as ensuring appropriate systems and controls are in place for reporting, compliance under SOX and in safeguarding company’s assets and managing and developing accounting staff.

Specifically, the Assistant Controller will:

  • Play a key role in financial reporting in accordance with Group policy and GAAP, including reports to Group.
  • Lead the tax process including working with external resources on the preparation of all tax returns and managing appropriate client related tax policies.
  • Lead the Company’s annual overhead rate audit including working with external auditors
  • Lead the Company’s annual 401(k) audit including working with external auditors.
  • Play a key role in the Company’s annual financial statement audit including working with external auditors.
  • Develop, train, and manage accounting staff and plan for continued improvements in its efficiency and effectiveness, and provide individuals with opportunities for professional and personal growth
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders; be approachable and serve as a mentor to the Finance team and the business on financial issues.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant accounting and management experience through some combination of public company and public accounting experience
  • CPA certification is required
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree
  • Experience working internationally, UK preferred or reporting to a UK parent company
  • Experience working in a professional services or consulting environment is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 accounting software is a plus; systems integration experience is required
  • Experienced financial professional who is both a leader but capable of being hands-on
  • Promote an inclusive and consultative approach to team management including, training, developing and mentoring staff
  • Self-starter who takes initiative to improve both the finance team and the Company’s performance
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability and good judgment who is a strategic thinker and strong operational executive
  • Critical thinker that sees beyond the task at hand and considers broader impact to the business
  • Problem solver who identifies and proposes solutions and ways to work smarter; appropriately escalating emerging issues before they become problems
  • Resilient character, comfortable to operate in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality displaying high level of integrity at all times
  • Excellent oral and written communications, management, and organizational skills

Additional Information


The salary range for this full-time role is $150K-$190K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
