[ Job Role ]

The Utility Technician is responsible for performing tasks related to the operation and maintenance of plant utilities, including, but not limited to electricity, refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air system, steam/hot water boiler system, hot water heating system, etc. to help ensure the utilities function properly to meet the Company’s operation and production needs.

[ Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to ]

· Perform regular preventive maintenance by taking readings and monitoring all utility systems critical parameters to analyze potential problem areas, by operating, inspecting, and/or testing all utility systems, equipment, devices and pipelines, etc. to maximize their availability and/or to maintain their optimal performance for production.

· Troubleshoot and perform unscheduled emergency repairs of plant utility systems, equipment, devices and pipelines, etc. promptly to limit/minimize equipment downtime and interruption to production and business operations.

· Identify abnormal, unsafe or emergency situations and take immediate necessary corrective action to minimize the possibility of damage to life and property.

· Collect samples and perform testing of wastewater and boiler feed water.

· Maintain equipment repairs, history, and replacements log.

· Act as liaison between the Company and utilities companies, as well as related government agencies, such as NJ Board of Public Utilities, and help ensure compliance with related regulations.

· Work with contractors and/or utilities companies as needed.

· Identify, locate, and purchase spare parts and/or supplies in the most cost effective and timely manner.

· Perform and maintain general housekeeping of work area and maintenance shop.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge, required levels of training and certification according to OSHA Standards.

· Other duties as assigned by the manager.

[ Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience ]

· Proficient knowledge and ability in repairing and maintaining electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

· Familiar with NJ State and national building codes to ensure that systems are properly installed and maintained

· Problem-solving, troubleshooting, analytical and critical thinking capabilities

· Proficient in English - bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Korean) a plus

· Effective verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.

· Basic computer knowledge and skills

· Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy and precision.

· Ability to meet deadlines with limited supervision

· Must be able to work in various temperature environments (i.e. freezer and engine room)

· Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

· Ability to stand, kneel or crouch for long periods of time throughout the day

· Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that will include overtime and weekends based on business demands
