The Clinical Nurse Specialist demonstrates an advanced level of professional competence in a specialized field of nursing. The primary roles of the Clinical Nurse Specialist include: practitioner, educator, leader, consultant and researcher. Within each role the Clinical Nurse Specialist uses problem solving strategies and the nursing process to improve outcomes.

• Demonstrates advanced capabilities and knowledge in assessment, diagnoses, treatment and evaluation of an identified population or high risk group to facilitate optimal outcomes.
• Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence based practice standards for patient care.
• Works collaboratively with appropriate resources to manage complex patient care.
• Serves as a clinical resource for the nursing staff, health care providers and the community.
• Utilizing research and the quality improvement process to assure quality and value in patient outcomes.
• Applies educational concepts and skills with patient, family, nursing staff and other health care providers to improve outcomes.
• Facilitates problem solving and decision making to influence the development, implementation and evaluation of patient, unit, department and organizational goals.

Required qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Nursing with clinical focus from an accredited school of nursing.
• Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License
• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
• 3 years of current nursing experience in related clinical area.

Preferred qualifications:

• Upon hire: Certification in specialty
